ARTIST CALL OUT

THEME: SCIENCE AND ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY
The role of science in society has never been more important than it is today. We now possess more data about the natural world than we have at any other point in history. Yet, our natural world is going through its worst crises: we are facing the sixth mass extinction, rapid biodiversity loss, all compounded by the climate emergency. At this junction, the intersection of arts and science is vital. As scientists continue to explore our changing landscape through an objective lens, art is a foundation of culture, well-being, environmental understanding, and other aspects of life. Working together, scientists and artists can create access to different ways of knowing, and bridge different views.
The University of Ottawa's Science Student Association is exploring the theme of ‘Science and Environmental Sustainability’, and are seeking creators to tell this story through a mural. We encourage creators to focus on the positive contributions of science.
